WAYNE, NJ. – Jacob Margolis scored the game-winner to lift the Florida Jr. Blades to a 2-1 overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Vengeance Saturday morning at the Hitmen Showcase at Floyd Hall Vega.
Each team traded scoring opportunities in the opening frame before Pittsburgh’s Will Golgosky found a way through Jr. Blades goaltender Justin Pace at the 14:30 mark.
The second period was scoreless, where both Pace and Ethan Isaly found an onslaught of scoring opportunities.
Within five minutes of the third period puck drop, Walker Smith fed the puck to Drew Micheli who tied the game 1-1 with a power play tally sending the battle into overtime.
Margolis spoiled Pittsburgh’s chances of victory 1:06 into overtime to give Florida the 2-1 win.
Goaltender Justin Pace earned the overtime win stopping 24 of the 25 shots faced, while Pittsburgh’s Ethan Isaly takes the loss allowing two goals on 24 shots.
