The 12U A team pummeled the undefeated #1 seed in the Southern division, Florida Panthers Gold, in a huge weekend win.  Seven big goals led the team to victory while the defense held strong with a final of 7-3. 

Head coach Johnstone and Assistant coach Petersen were ecstatic with the team’s performance.

“We play hockey to have fun. Winning is fun, and that’s especially true when you do it with a full team effort against the Panthers Gold that beat us 8-1 a few months ago. Today we demolished them. It was epic. It started in the locker room with a bunch of friends having a good time, staying loose, and eager for a chance to make a real statement. The game was tight early on, but our guys were relentless all over the ice, and those Panthers simply could not handle the barrage of pressure. As the game went on the chances started turning to goals and next thing you know we had seven on the board. The Panthers had only given up 17 goals in total for the season, so taking it to them that hard was pretty incredible," said Johnstone.

Johnstone went on to stress that team dynamics are an important part of the team’s success.

“We are successful because these boys are willing to put it all on the line for each other, and every player gets a regular shift and makes a meaningful contribution,” said Johnstone. 

 Coach Johnstone added, “we have six weeks of practices to prepare for the state championships, and I know everyone is very excited to take advantage of the opportunity and keep pushing ahead.” 

The two remaining league games will take place on Feb. 3rd at the Panther’s Ice Den where the team will face the Breakers and the Toros.
