BRIDGEWATER, NJ- The Florida Jr. Blades 16U Futures returned home from the final regular season USPHL Showcase with three additional wins securing a post-season playoff spot. Futures ended the regular season overall in fifth place with a 11-5-0-1 record with 23 points.

“Looking big picture, we’re happy with going 3-2 on the weekend. Putting us in a position to make playoffs was always our goal,” said head coach Pete Flores. “Looking at the smaller things, the struggle for consistency is a struggle all teams face and we’re no different. We have a few weeks of some quality ice time setup and we will be focusing on finding that consistency to carry us deep into the playoffs.”

Futures opened the tournament against the Jersey Shore Whalers with a 2-1 loss, but quickly rebounded against the Islanders Hockey Club with a 4-1 win later than evening. Goals from Brennan Cyhaniuk, Noah Gabryluk, Drew Micheli and Sean Schiffel led the way to the Saturday night win.

On Sunday, Futures collected two more points with a 5-1 victory against the Potomac Patriots. Cyhaniuk earned four points (2 g, 2 a) during the matchup. Later in the afternoon Futures failed to overcome the New Jersey Rockets taking a 5-2 loss.

Closing out the Showcase on Monday, Futures dominated the P.A.L. Junior Islanders with a 4-1 win. Goaltenders Tristan Falsetto and Zach Humphrey both shined in between the pipes allowing just six goals during the five games at the Showcase.
