ESTERO, FL- The Florida Jr. Blades 16U Futures program traveled to the CCM World Invite in Chicago this past weekend where Futures advanced to the quarterfinals ending the trip with a 3-2-0 record.

“The CCM World Invite was a great experience for our team. The level of competition was top notch as to be expected and the guys competed hard all weekend. Unfortunately, we came up a little short in the quarterfinals losing an exciting 1-0 game,” said head coach Pete Flores. “Overall going 3-2 on the weekend, with our two losses coming to the two teams that ended up facing each other in the finals is something we feel proud to of accomplished.”

Despite opening the tournament with a loss against the 95 Giants Hockey Club, the Jr. Blades rebounded for a late night 7-5 win against the West Coast Renegades.

On Saturday, the Jr. Blades opened the morning with a 3-0 win over the Naperville Sabres before walking away with the 4-2 win over Jimmy John's that evening.

The Sunday morning quarterfinals had the Jr. Blades faceoff against the Falcons Hockey Association where the Falcons overcame the Jr. Blades 1-0 in a high intensity battle.

“We are continuing to focus on the details and improving every time we step on the ice,” Flores said looking ahead. “I'm proud of the way the guys represented the Jr. Blades this weekend and I'm looking forward to getting back after it.”
