ESTERO, FL -The Florida Jr. Blades 16U Futures organization split the weekend at the NH Monarchs Showcase in Hooksett, New Hampshire at the Tri-Town Ice Arena. The Jr. Blades (11 pts) left the showcase with a 5-2-1 record overall securing sixth place overall in the standings.

“Overall, this weekend was a test of perseverance. We learned a lot about ourselves as a team and what we can endure. Through injuries and things not quite bouncing our way we still found a way to win two tough games and even in our losses we were in it right to the end,” said head coach Pete Flores. “I’m proud of the way the guys pushed and dug deep. We proved to ourselves that even when we aren’t at our best we can still find that extra gear. We’re looking forward to getting back to work and preparing for our next test.”

Saturday the Jr. Blades started off the showcase with a 5-3 loss against the Philadelphia Blazers but rebounded later that evening with at 4-1 victory against the Jersey Hitmen.

The Jr. Blades continued the winning momentum Sunday morning with a 3-1 win against the P.A.L. Junior Islanders. The Jr. Blades were unable to overtake the Skipjacks Hockey Club taking an overtime 4-3 loss to close out the showcase.
